HONOLULU - Continuing in a long tradition of Warrior volleyball players involved with the U.S. National Team, 2002 Hawai‘i freshman
Delano Thomas has been selected to participate on the Junior National Team for the upcoming summer.
Thomas, a 6-foot-7 middle from Sacramento, Calif., has been an asset for the third-ranked Warriors this season, hitting .430, with 87 kills in 149 attempts in 49 games. He has also put-up 39 total blocks for a 0.80 blocks per game.
Thomas’ selection continues a tradition of Warriors with the National Team. Last year, current Hawai‘i Kimo Tuyay and outside hitter Tony Ching represented the U.S. Juniors, while fellow freshman Jose Delgado played for the Puerto Rican Junior National Team.
Former Warriors Clay Stanley (2001 America’s Cup) and Chris Kosty (2002 USA Training Team) are currently on the national team scene as well.
Two Warriors–Allen Allen and Carlos Briceno–have had the priveledge of representing the U.S.A. in the Olympics.
