Yutaro "Darryl" Takada joined the University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department in May 2022.
Takada currently holds the position of Marketing Specialist & Videoboard Manager since 2023. In his role, Takada is responsible for maintaining all venue’s videoboards to enhance the game day and fan experience while also serving as the liaison with Daktronics. In addition, the Japan native helps to build structure and lead efforts to reach an international fan base especially Japan market.
Takada previously worked at professional consulting firm EY Strategy and Consulting in Tokyo as a consultant. Before that, he worked at University of Tsukuba Athletic Department, which was the first project to establish an NCAA modeled athletic department in Japan.
The Shiga, Japan native earned his bachelor’s degree in health and sports science from the University of Tsukuba in 2016 and his master’s degree in health and Sports Science from the University of Tsukuba in 2018.
Takada was a member of the Tsukuba men’s rugby team from 2012-16, which finished runner-up in the National Collegiate Rugby Championship Tournament in 2012 and 2014. He was also a member of the IBM BigBlue American Football Team in Japan from 2016-18 which finished runner-up in the National Championship Tournament in 2017 and 2018.
He currently resides in Kahalu‘u.
