Trevor Sackmann joined the University of Hawai‘i Athletics Department in 2020. He currently holds the position of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.
Sackmann is responsible for designing and implementing athletic performance programs for women’s basketball, track & field sprints/jumps/vaults, and men’s swimming and diving. He also assists in training the football team.
In 2022 and ’23, Sackmann helped the Rainbow Wahine Basketball team secure back-to-back Big West Conference Tournament titles and two NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time in program history. The program also captured both the Big West regular season and tournament title in 2022, a first in school history. Under Sackmann, the track & field team had their highest conference finish in program history (2nd), while long-standing individual sprint records in 60m, and 200m dash were broken. In the 2022-23 season, the track team saw multiple athletes achieve NCAA regional qualifying scores, with one earning All-American status and a fourth place finish in the high jump at NCAAs.
Sackmann previously served as a graduate assistant strength & conditioning coach for UH, beginning in 2020. Prior to joining the staff, Sackmann served as a performance coach for the Chinese Olympic Committee from 2018-20. In 2017, he spent time as an intern sports performance coach at Stanford University before being hired on as an assistant sports performance coach. Sackmann began his strength and conditioning career as a student intern for the University of Oregon football team during the 2015-16 season.
The Colorado native earned a bachelor’s degree in human physiology and psychology from the University of Oregon in 2016 and a master’s degree in kinesiology and rehabilitation science from the University of Hawai‘i in 2022.
Sackmann is certified through the NSCA and USA-Weightlifting.
He currently resides in Honolulu.
