Madeleine Outman Carleton completed her third season as the Hawai'i Head Track and Field Coach and sixth year with the program in 2024-25. She joined the Rainbow Wahine as the associate head coach on August 27, 2019 and was promoted to Head Track & Field Coach prior to the start of the 2022-2023 season.

COACHING HIGHLIGHTS
  • Has led UH to four consecutive top-four finishes at both the MPSF and Big West Championships.
  • Hawai'i finished fourth at both the MPSF indoor and Big West outdoor championships in 2025.
  • Four athletes qualified for the NCAA First Round following the outdoor season – the most the program has sent to the NCAA postseason since 2016.
  • Set a total of eight new program records between indoor and outdoor seasons (5 indoor, 3 outdoor).
  • Posted 58 new program top 10 marks across the two seasons (33 indoor, 25 outdoor).
  • Led UH to its best-ever finish at an indoor conference championship meet in 2024, finishing runner-up at the MPSF Indoor Championships.
  • Coached the Rainbow Wahine to their third straight top-three finish at the Big West Championships outdoors, coming in third.
  • The 'Bows won a school record five gold medals at the Big West Championships (Hallee Mohr - Discus, Montserrat Montanes i Arbo - Hammer, Isabella Kneeshaw - 400m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay).
  • Helped lead high jumper Lilian Turban to second-team All-America honors indoors after a 10th place finish.
  • Coached the outdoor 4x100m relay squad to a record-breaking year, topping a nearly 40-year old school record before lowering the mark two more times throughout the season.
  • Helped lead the Rainbow Wahine outdoor squad to a third-place finish at the 2023 Big West Championship.
  • Guided Turban to a fourth-place NCAA finish and All-America status in the high jump.
  • Helped four individuals claim Big West titles in 2023 (Alyssa Mae Antolin - 200m, Montserrat Montanes I Arbo - hammer throw, Lilian Turban - high jump, Tara Wyllie - triple jump).
  • Coached sprinters to times not seen since the 1980's, and multiple conference champions for the highest conference finish ever in program history with a runner-up finish in 2022.
  • Coached an NCAA Regional Qualifier in the high jump in the 2022 outdoor season.
  • Since 2019, coached athletes to 11 school records, five conference championships, 13 All-Conference performances and 88 all-time top-10 marks in school history.
  • Recruited and signed historically diverse and deep classes from seven coast-to-coast states and 6 foreign countries.
  • Under her guidance at Cleveland State, the Vikings recorded a program-best, 40 total points at the 2019 Horizon League Outdoor Championships.
  • Coached over 15 student-athletes to Horizon League podium finishes, including seven in 2019.
  • Guided Ursuline College from an unstructured NAIA program to a top-40 team nationally, coaching the school's first two NCAA All-American athletes.
  • Led the team to the inaugural conference’s indoor championship in 2015, earning GMAC Coach of the Year accolades.
  • In 2014, led Ursuline to the GMAC Outdoor Championship title, the first-ever conference championship in school history in any sport.
  • Three-time NCAA South/Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year at Emory.

  • Qualified for four USA National Championships in five different events.
  • Won the 2007 National Championship at Williams College.
  • 13-time NCAA All-American and a four-time Academic All-American.
  • Was the Division II Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year in 2009-10.
  • Holds 10 school records at IUP and six more at Williams.
  • Was the IUP and PSAC winner of the NCAA Woman of the Year award in 2009.
