Associate Coach Kaleo Baxter is entering his eighth season and ninth year overall on the University of Hawai‘i women's volleyball coaching staff. He served as the program's Director of Operations under former head coach Dave Shoji in 2016 and was promoted to assistant coach as part of head coach Robyn Ah Mow's inaugural staff in 2017.
From 2011-14, Baxter served as UH's volunteer coach and was in charge of the 'Bows' liberos and passers, team defensive system, and serving strategies.
Prior to returning to UH, Baxter was an assistant coach at UC Irvine in 2015. He was responsible for the team's blocking and defensive schemes and scouting reports while working closely with liberos, pin hitters and middle blockers.
Before joining the Anteaters' staff, Baxter was an assistant coach for one season at Irvine Valley College under UH men's volleyball alum,
Tom Pestolesi. Baxter helped to lead the Lasers to a state championship title and a perfect 27-0 record in 2014.
In the summer of 2014, Baxter was a volunteer coach with the U.S. women's national volleyball team, serving as a court coach and practice player. From 2012-14 Baxter also was the director of the Imi 'Ike Volleyball Club and was the head coach of the 18-under team.
Baxter graduated from Kauai High School in 2005. He earned varsity letters in volleyball and soccer and led the Red Raiders to the boys volleyball league title in 2003 and '04. Baxter earned all-league first team honors and all-state second team honors in 2004. He also was tabbed as all-state as a sweeper in soccer.
After high school, Baxter played two seasons at Irvine Valley College where he earned all-conference honors and all-state tournament honors as the team's libero in 2008. He helped lead the Lasers to conference and state championships in 2008 and '09. In 2008, Baxter averaged 2.77 digs per set and set a school record with 27 digs against L.A. Pierce College.
Baxter finished his collegiate career playing as a libero/defensive specialist for CSUN from 2009-11 (redshirted in 2010). Baxter graduated from CSUN with a degree in sociology in 2011.
