Christa Youngern was named the assistant track and field coach in charge of the throwing events at the University of Hawai'i in the fall of 2021, arriving in Manoa from San Jose State.

- Nurtured six All-Americans.
- Has coached 16 different athletes to school records.
- Helped guide 20 athletes to all-region honors in 2019.
- Guided the team to a fifth-place finish in the nation, the highest ranking in San Francisco State history.
- At CMS, had seven NCAA national provisional qualifiers, two All-Americans, and was awarded the West Region Assistant Coach of the Year Award in 2016.
- Is a USATF Level 2 certified throws coach.
