Former Rainbow Wahine Sharlene Carillo ran both cross country and track from 2003-07. She will serve as a student assistant this season.

Carillo has been a vital part of both teams, consistently running in the top five spots for the Rainbow Wahine cross country team since her sophomore year. In track, the middle-distance runner switched between the 800-meter and 1500-meter race. She also ran the second leg on the indoor mile-relay team that set the school record at 3:53.01 in 2007.

Her most accomplished race was at the 2007 WAC Championships where she chopped nearly a minute off her 800-meter time to run 2:15.53, making finals where she placed seventh overall.

The Kapa`a, Kaua`i native majored in physical therapy and graduated in the fall of 2007. She was also named to the academic all-WAC team every year since 2004.

Carillo is a 2003 graduate of Kapa`a High School where she was named cross country MVP from 2001-03 She has four younger brothers and is the daughter of Darlene and Alvin Sasil.
