Michael Stephens will enter his second season leading the Hawai’i men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams in 2023-24 after being named the head coach on June 1, 2022.

COACHING HIGHLIGHTS
  • Named the MPSF Women's Swimming Coach of the Year following his first season in 2022-23.
  • Led the Hawai’i women's swimming and diving program to an MPSF title in year one at the helm.
  • The Rainbow Wahine dominated at the 2023 MPSF Championships, winning nine of the 18 events and finishing with 773.5 points, nearly 170 more than the runner-up.
  • Helped the UH women finish with the most points of a non-Power 5 school at the NCAA Championships, coming in 31st.
  • Guided Laticia Transom to CSCAA All-America honors in the 100 freestyle and MPSF Swimmer of the Year recognition.
  • Led the UH men's swimming and diving program to a third-place MPSF finish in 2022-23.
  • The Rainbow Wahine set program records in six events (50 free, 100 free, 100 back, 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay) while the Rainbow Warriors set a pair of school relay records (400 free relay, 800 free relay).
PRIOR TO UH
  • Led his Boston College teams to 171 school record-breaking performances, including 41 alone in his final year with the Eagles in 2022.
  • Helped his athletes put up 533 top-10 performances in Boston College history.
  • Student-athletes achieved 29 NCAA consideration times and zone diving scores during his five seasons as head coach.
  • Three women swimmers qualified for the 2021 Olympic Trials – the first three to do so in Boston College history.
  • Served as an assistant coach for the Barbados National Swim Team in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.
  • Oversaw the diving coach and volunteer staff while designing the strength and conditioning program and serving as recruiting coordinator as an associate head coach at Boston College.
  • Held the school record in the 200 medley relay and ranked in the top five of the 100 and 200 breaststroke following the end of his four-year career as a student-athlete at Boston College.
