Chris Mooney

    Assistant Swimming Coach
Chris Mooney is in his fourth season as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s swimming program.  Mooney came to UH from Miami, Queensland, Australia and his strong ties to home have already been felt by the UH swimming program, as he has helped land season Aussie swimmers on both the men and women’s side.
 
Mooney’s expertise is working with the middle and long distance swimmers.  In his brief time with the UH program, Mooney has already helped guide 11 athletes to the NCAA Championships, four All-Americans, two WAC Swimmers of the Week, and two athletes to the World University Games.
 
For nine years prior to his stint at UH, Mooney worked with the Laurie Lawrence Swim School.  He also doubled up his duties over the span of the last seven years at Lawrence and as an assistant coach for the Miami Gold Coast Swim Club under Australian legend and Master Coach Dennis Cottrell.
 
Mooney worked with the Elite Program at MGCSC, which developed four World and Olympic record holders.
 
The 31-year-old Mooney earned his certificate from Palm Beach Currumbin. During his school career, he swam and played water polo. In swimming, he was a National Level Swimming medalist.
 
Currently, Mooney is an Australian Swim Coaching Association Level 2 Coach.  He enjoys Australian Rules Football, surfing, and player water polo.
 
Mooney and his wife, Erin, have two children – Levi (13) and Callum (10).
