HONOLULU, Hawai‘i – Fifth-seeded San Jose State knocked off No. 4 Utah State in the quarterfinals of the WAC Volleyball Tournament Thursday. With the win, the Spartans advance to face the winner of the New Mexico State/Fresno State match.
SJSU out-hit the Aggies .247 to .169 on the match. The Spartans bettered Utah State in kills (61-50) and assists (55-44), while the Aggies tallied more digs (62-60) and blocks (8-6).
Colleen Burke paced the Spartans with 19 kills on .643 hitting. Kelly Crow posted a double-double – 17 kills and 11 digs, as did Emily Burke – 42 assists and 11 digs. Kristal Tsukano posted a match-high 18 digs.
The Aggies’ Melissa Osterloh had a match-high 20 kills to go along with 10 digs.
