HONOLULU — The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team's 2025 season came to an end with a four-set loss to Long Beach State in Saturday's regular-season finale at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
After dropping the first set, the Rainbow Wahine battled back to even the match but a spirited effort in a tight third set tipped to the Beach, which finished off a 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 25-16 decision.
With UC Irvine winning earlier in the day, UH's loss gave the Anteaters with sixth and final berth in the Hawaiian Islands present the 2025 Outrigger Big West Women's Volleyball Championship next week in Long Beach, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine closed their farewell season in the Big West at 12-17 overall and 8-10 in conference play.
UH seniors
Bri Gunderson and
Tyla Reese Mane both posted season highs in their final on-court appearances in Mānoa. Gunderson put away 16 kills while hitting .314 and Mane set a career best with 14 kills.

Freshman
Cha'lei Reid had 10 kills in 17 swings without an attack error early in the third set and finished the night with 13 kills in her 19
th double-figure performance of the season. Reid closed the season averaging 3.35 kills per set to become the fourth freshman to lead the team in kills in program history.
Libero
Victoria Leyva came up with a match-high 17 digs in her 12
th consecutive match with double figures and 23
rd of the season. Setter
Adrianna Arquette came just shy of her 11
th double-double with 44 assists and nine digs.
Logan King led Long Beach State (21-8, 14-4) with 18 kills and Rhiann Sheffie added 15 kills.
LBSU took an early lead in the first set and UH tied it at 7-7 on ace from
Leilani Lopez. The 'Bows stayed within a point until the Beach went on a 5-1 run to take a 19-13 lead. LBSU maintained a cushion through the end of the set take the lead in the match.
In the second set, Leyva landed her second ace of the night in a 5-0 UH run that gave the 'Bows their first lead of the night at 13-10. The set would see 14 ties and five lead changes and Gunderson block to end a lengthy rally sparked a 4-1 UH run to give UH set point at 24-22. The Beach survived the first attempt but Reid put away her ninth kill to end the set and even the match.
LBSU took a 10-7 lead in the third on back-to-back blocks, and UH battled back to catch the Beach at 16-16. The set remained tight deep into the set and UH took a 22-21 lead on a kill by Gunderson. Long Beach State moved back ahead and Gunderson tied it again at 23-23. But a service error followed by a Beach ace gave LBSU a 2-1 lead in the match.
Long Beach State took a 7-1 lead in the fourth and remained in command until UH pieced together a 4-1 run to close to 20-16. But the Beach closed the match on a 5-0 run to end the regular season.
