Rainbow Roundup Mar. 14, 2022

"Rainbow Roundup" is a weekly video series hosted by H-TV's Cheyenne Sibley, recapping the week of UH Athletics news with highlights and sound bites.

For the first time in program history, the University of Hawai'i women's basketball team are Big West Conference champions of both the regular season and the conference tournament. While the new piece of hardware capped off the weekend, there were many more highlights we need to get to from the week.
  • After being picked to finish in the middle of the pack in the preseason, Rainbow Wahine basketball proved they belonged by knocking off CSU Bakersfield, UC Riverside, and UC Irvine to claim the program's third-ever Big West Conference tournament title.
  • Women's basketball now heads to Waco, Texas for the NCAA Tournament as the No. 15 seed and will take on No. 2 Baylor on Friday.
  • Rainbow Warrior basketball picked up a quarterfinals win in the Big West Conference Tournament but had their season come to an end Friday night in the semifinals with a loss to Cal State Fullerton.
  • Men's Volleyball returned to form with convincing wins over Lewis University improving to 16-3 on the season.
  • Huge weekend for UH Sailing as they played second overall in the Port of Los Angeles Harbor Cup, taking first place in three separate races over the weekend.
  • Baseball took on 10-1 Rutgers and dropped 26 runs over the four-game series to split with the Scarlet Knights.
  • Beach Bows took four of six in the OUTRIGGER Queen's Cup, including wins over Nebraska and California, improving to 10-5 on the year.
  • Rainbow Warrior is on an impressive run of seven straight wins as they swept by the competition in the Golden State Tennis Invitational.
  • Water Polo kicked off conference action with a 13-5 win over UC Davis and followed that up with a 9-4 nonconference win over Pacific.
  • Against some stellar competition in the Bank of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine Classic, softball picked up a win on the final day against California, 6-1 on Saturday.
