HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball (20-6, 17-1 Big West) swept Cal State Bakersfield, 25-13, 25-10, 25-12 to claim at least a share of The Big West title with two matches to play. Middle blocker

The Roadrunners were unable to find a solution for Igiede who started the match pounding seven kills in the first set alone. Her 16 total kills came on 27 errorless swings for a .593 hitting percentage—which was the 11
th time this season that she has hit over .500. It was her fourth-straight match with at least five blocks and she added a pair of service aces, two assists and a dig for the insane stat line.
Junior
Riley Wagoner notched her sixth double-double of the season, putting down 11 kills with 10 digs. She has recorded 10+ digs in eight of UH's last nine matches and has had double-digit digs in 12 games to go with 17 double-digit kill matches this season.
In all, three Rainbow Wahine logged 10 or more digs with defensive/serving specialist
Kendra Ham coming up with 10 and libero
Tayli Ikenaga adding 13. Both Ham and Ikenaga also recorded milestone career numbers during the three-setter as Ham tallied her 200
th career dig and Ikenaga picked up her 600
th career dig.
Kate Lang and Byrd split time at setter. Lang had 19 assists and five digs with a kill and an ace, while Byrd dished out 10 assists with four digs and a block solo. The two setters combined to lead UH to a .307 hitting percentage—the fourth time in the last five games that UH has hit over .300 as a team.
The Rainbow Wahine started how they ended their previous match vs. Cal Poly. Hawai'i had an early six-point scoring run with Wagoner serving as UH started with a 7-1 lead. UH extended their lead to 11-2. The Roadrunners went on an 8-1 run of their own to close to within two at 12-10. From that point, Hawai'i would score 13 of the last 16 points to take Set 1, 25-13. Ham served eight-straight points to take UH to set point at 24-12. Igiede led the 'Bows with seven kills with two blocks, an assist and a service ace in the frame.
In Set 2, Hawai'i went up six at 11-4 after a five point run with Lang behind the service line. UH extended their lead to nine at 14-5 to force the 'Runners to call their second timeout before the halfway point. Hawai'i led by as many as 10 points at 17-7 then went on to score the last eight consecutive points on another Wagonoer serving run to win Set 2 going away, 25-10. UH's 25-10 Set 2 score was the most lopsided since UH won Set 2 vs. UC Davis, 25-7 last season on Oct. 29, 2021.
CSU Bakersfield could not slow down the UH juggernaut in Set 3. Hawai'i scored in bunches. A seven-point run with Ikenaga serving put the match away late and gave the 'Bows a 20-8 lead. UH cruised to a 25-12 Set 3 win to seal the sweep. The win was UH's fifth sweep in the last six matches. UH has held their opponent below 20 points in 14 of the last 18 sets. The match time of an hour 20 minutes tied UH's fastest match of the season (CSUN on Oct. 21).
UH held the Roadrunner (7-23, 4-14 BW) to a -.050 hitting percentage. Hawai'i out hit CSUB 38-to-16 in kills, had a 36-to-14 advantage in assists, a 6-to-2 edge in service aces, 51-to-32 in digs and 10.0-to-5.0 in blocks.
The Roadrunners were led by Ava Palm who had a team-high five kills. Laura De Pra had a team0high nine digs and both Hana Makonova and Palm had a team-high three blocks each.
