'Bows Together Campaign

UH Athletics Unveils ’Bows Together Theme

09.17.2020

During this unprecedented time, COVID-19 has paralyzed our state and created health concerns for our residents, high unemployment, low tourism, among others. We have learned to adapt to work-from-home environments, quarantine protocols, distance learning, face coverings and social distancing rules. We recognize that to survive these difficult times, we need to be unified. Now more than ever, 'BOWS TOGETHER.

'BOWS TOGETHER represents the University of Hawai'i Athletics' renewed focus on rebuilding and unifying our community and our department through areas such as health and safety initiatives, social justice reform, community service, and economic development programs. While collegiate events are on pause, we are not.

The 'BOWS TOGETHER logo was created with various elements in our department's theme for the year. Athletics is highlighted with the traditional H mark and kapa font representing the foundation of who we are – 21 teams, 500 student-athletes and 200 employees that serve the state's only NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program. The uppercase letters show unity and pride of our university. The island chain, which represents our home, our families, friends and partners, starts at the letter "W" and ends at the letter "E" which signifies WE are all in this together.

As part of the 'BOWS TOGETHER theme, UH coaches, student-athletes, and athletics staff participated in several public service announcements including mask-up and voter registration campaigns. The coaches and student-athletes also used their platform to send thanks to frontline and essential workers and to remind the community to show aloha during this difficult time and that we're all in this together.

A 'BOWS TOGETHER fundraiser will be launched in Fall 2020.

"We recognize that to survive these difficult times, we need to be unified. Now more than ever, 'BOWS TOGETHER!"
