Hawai‘i Athletics Launches WarriorCast Podcast

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i Athletics Department unveiled a new venture from within the department by announcing an exclusive podcast centered around stories, as well as the personalities of the coaches, student-athletes, and the administrators, named WarriorCast.

The debut episode features newly hired head football coach Todd Graham, discussing his family, career, and his short time so far in the Aloha State. The podcast was created for fans of the University who want more of an insider listen into the personalities of those they cheer and support while learning more about the inner workings of the athletics department.

Where To Listen: WarriorCast will be offered on several platforms, currently including Spotify, iHeartRadio, TuneIn, and PodBean — coming soon to Apple Podcast and Google Podcast.

Format: No episode will be the same as WarriorCast will be a free-flowing conversation between the host and featured guests focused on storytelling. Episodes won't be limited on time but will aim to be between 30-90 minutes.

Guests will span across the board in all of athletics with the possibility of a guest doing multiple appearances depending on topics. WarriorCast will be interactive across numerous social media platforms, as announcements will be shown on the official @HawaiiAthletics accounts. During specially promoted episodes, listeners will be encouraged to use a hashtag on social media to ask questions of certain guests.

Schedule: In its current form, WarriorCast will have one new episode a month, and will be available on the second Tuesday of every month. The schedule is subject to change with possible additional episodes to be added per month, depending on demand and listenership. A timeline in terms of guests hasn't been decided.

The Host: Media relations assistant director Eric Mathews will serve as the host of WarriorCast and will conduct all aspects of the podcast. Before his stint at UH, Mathews worked as a sports personality in both radio and television across several southern states from 2005 to 2015.
