HONOLULU—University of Hawai'i women's volleyball head coach
Robyn Ah Mow announced the signing of two players to National Letters of Intent—Kate Lang (setter) and Anna Kiraly (middle blocker).
Lang is a 5-10 setter out of Keller High School in Keller, Texas. Lang helped lead her Texas Advantage Volleyball (TAV) Club to two national titles. She was twice named to the National Tournament all-tournament team and was named Setter of the Year in 2017 and '18. At Keller HS, Lang earned first team all-district, first team academic all-district 2016-18 and was named Most Valuable Player in 2018. Lang was ranked No. 59 on the Senior Aces list for prep volleyball seniors.
"We are very excited to have a setter of Kate's caliber join the Rainbow Wahine program," says Ah Mow. "Kate is a smart, athletic setter who understands what it takes to run a high level offense. Kate's volleyball IQ, competitive demeanor and experience will be instantly evident and infectious the moment she steps foot on the court. Kate has been extremely successful in the club and high school ranks and we are certain she will continue to do so at the collegiate level."
Kiraly is a 6-3 middle from Kistarcsa, Hungary. She will be the first ever Rainbow Wahine volleyball player to hail from Hungary. Kiraly is a highly decorated player. She helped lead her Godolloi Roplabda Club team to the Central Hungarian Regional Championship 1st place in 2017; U21 Hungarian Championship 2nd place in 2019; and the U19 Hungarian Championship 3rd place in 2017,'19. She is a two-time Hungarian Championship "All star tournament team player" ('18 U19, '19 U21) and was named her club's Player of the Year in 2018. Kiraly also earned the U19 Hungarian Championship "Best player of the tournament" award in 2019. Kiraly has played eight matches with the Hungarian Youth National Team and earned a spot on the Senior National Team roster. She also earned the "Good student good athlete" title twice (2012, '16). She currently is playing on the MTK Budapest Club Team.
"We are thrilled to announce the addition of Anna to our 2020 class," says Ah Mow. "Anna is a long 6'3 middle who is extremely agile and she contacts the ball at a very high point. She attacks behind the setter effortlessly and puts up an imposing block. Anna will come to Manoa with a lot of international experience and will add depth and competition to our middle blocker position immediately."
"We are very excited to have both Kate and Anna join our Rainbow Wahine 'Ohana"
