HONOLULU – Following the recently completed Fall semester, University of Hawai'i student-athletes posted record grade point averages.
The current average cumulative grade point average of UH's approximate 488 student-athletes is 3.12, which is the highest in program history. It also marks the 13
th consecutive semester student-athletes collectively earned an average cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
In addition, the Fall semester average GPA was 3.07, which is the second highest mark in program history.
UH student-athletes eclipsed the 3.0 mark in both semester and cumulative averages for the sixth consecutive semester dating back to Spring 2016.
"We are proud of our student-athletes both athletically and also for their academic achievements," said
Courtney Tsumoto, Director of Academics. "Each team's academic advisors and coaches partner to serve important roles in the development of our student-athletes within their sports, as students, and as people. Our students are also fortunate to be challenged and inspired by great professors here at UH. Our student-athletes demonstrate determination. They excel both within and beyond their sports. This accomplishment is well deserved and very much their own."
Women's tennis garnered the top Fall and cumulative GPA while women's soccer and women's cross country teams also earned team cumulative GPA averages of 3.5 or higher.
Individually, a total of 36 student-athletes posted 4.0 semester GPAs for the Fall semester, 10 of which maintain cumulative GPAs of 4.0. In addition, 307 student-athletes posted 3.0 or higher semester GPAs this past Fall semester, while 299 currently achieved cumulative GPAs of 3.0 or higher.
