Hawai'i was led by sophomore middle hitter

Maglio, who had four kills in the first set, caught fire in the second set, pounding down six kills in six attempts for a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage. She added two more in the third for her 12 total kills. Maglio finished the night 12-for-18 with three errors. She was also tied with a match-high five blocks with Taylor.
Fellow middle hitter
Olivia Magill also got off to a hot start on the night, racking up eight kills with no errors on 12 attempts for a match-high .667 hitting percentage. She played the first two sets only. Add UH's
Annie Mitchem's three kills in the third set and UH's middles accounted for 23 of Hawai'i's 46 kills with a combined .541 hitting percentage.
Taylor's total streak of double-figure kill matches is at 13 as she had 10 kills against Duke and 15 vs. Washington at last year's NCAA tournament to end last season. With the middles seeing a lot of action early in the match, Taylor got off to a slow start with one kill in the first set and three in the second. But then Taylor tallied seven kills in the third set to go over the double-digit mark. She also added seven digs for the match.
UH setter
Tayler Higgins dished out 39 assists for a .527 percentage and had a service ace and seven digs. Libero
Savanah Kahakai popped up a team-high eight digs for UH.
The first set of the match saw eight ties and two lead changes before UH was finally able to get some separation, taking as big as a six point lead at 18-12 on back-to-back CSUB hitting errors. Hawai'i was able to hold off the Roadrunners the rest of the set to win, 25-20.
In the second set, UH got points in bunches—five with Kahakai behind the service line and later behind Taylor's serve UH racked up six-straight points—which included back-to-back service aces. CSUB scored three consecutive points late in the set to break the double-digit point mark, but the 'Bows cruised to a 25-12 win in set two. Freshman
Casey Castillo recorded her first career kill in the Green and White to give UH match point at 24-12.
The third set saw UH slowly pull away from the Roadrunners fueled in part by Taylor's seven kills in the frame. Defensive specialist
Katiana Ponce served out the last four points to coast to the 25-15 win for the match.
All 14 Rainbow Wahine who were suited up played in the match against the Roadrunners.
Hawai'i will now turn its focus onto Big West Conference play as the 'Bows will face UC Santa Barbara (4-7, 0-0 BWC) and Cal Poly (8-3, 0-0 BWC) on Friday, Sept. 25 and Saturday, Sept. 26 respectively. Both matches will start at 7:00 pm in the Stan Sheriff Center.
