Photo Gallery (Photos courtesy of Andrew Lee)HONOLULU—The University of Hawai'i softball team swept their two games on the final day of the Kama'aina Tournament on Saturday at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium. Hawai'i defeated UH-Hilo, 9-3 in the first game of the day, then blanked Chaminade, 9-0 to conclude the two-day tournament.

Brittany Hitchcock earned the win, throwing 6.0 innings. She allowed two runs on seven hits with a walk and a strike out. Freshman Naomi Monahan tossed the final inning, allowing one run while issuing two walks.
The 'Bows got on the scoreboard first, posting one run in the bottom of the second.
Ulu Matagiese started things off with a one out single. Later, Jennifer Iseri ripped a single right back up the middle to drive in pinch runner Courtney Hiruko for the 1-0 lead.
The Vulcans, however, responded by knotting the game at 1-1 in the top of the third. UHH's Brittany Huff started the rally with a two-out double to leftfield. Victoria Garcia followed with an RBI-single to left to drive in Huff from second.
UH tallied two runs to regain the lead in the bottom of the fourth.
Tayana Mata led off with a solo home run over the right-centerfield fence.
Kanani Aina Cabrales followed with a single to right-centerfield. Later, pinch runner Hiruko scored on an RBI-single to left by
Keiki Carlos. UH led 3-1 after four complete innings.
The Rainbow Wahine extended their lead to 6-1 in the fifth by scoring three more runs. Aina Cabrales drilled an RBI-double down the leftfield line to drive in pinch-runner Alia Monges. Iseri followed with her second hard-hit single up the middle of the game to score both pinch-runner
Kiani Wong and
Tayana Mata.
UH-Hilo scored one run in the in the sixth to cut their deficit 6-2. Danielle Pulido reached first on a fielding error on the shortstop. She later came around to score on a double by Cristina Menjivar.
In the sixth the 'Bows added some insurance runs to go up, 9-2. Breanna Ojala led off with a single through the right-side of the infield. Ojala sprinted to third on a
Keiki Carlos double to left.
Rachael Turner then hit a looping single to left to drive in Ojala from third.
Rachel Lack hit into a fielder's choice that pushed Carlos across the plate and later, Aina Cabrales hit a ground out that allowed Monges to score UH's ninth and final run.
The Vulcans got one more run in the top of the seventh. Mari Kawano led off with a walk and came around to score on Menjivar's second hit of the game.
UH-Hilo's Danielle Wilson took the loss, throwing the first 5.0 innings of the game. She gave up six runs on 14 hits with a walk and a strikeout. Billie Derleth tossed the final inning. She gave up three runs on five hits.
Hawai'i 9, Chaminade 0Box Score (pdf)Aina Cabrales earned her second win of the tourney, firing five shut-out innings. She allowed just one hit with a walk and six strikeouts while facing just 22 batters. Iseri threw the final 2.0 innings to preserve the shut-out. She did not give up a hit but had two walks and a strike out.
Iseri started the home half of the first inning with a line drive single to centerfield. Nicole Lopez followed with a blast over the leftfield fence for a two-run home run—her second round-tripper of the tournament. After a groundout, Morales drove a double to right-centerfield. Later with two outs, pinch runner Hiruko scored on a fielding error on the shortstop for the early 3-0 lead.
Chaminade threatened in the top of the third by loading the bases on an error, a single and a hit batter with one out. But Aina Cabrales got a strike out and a pop-out to second to thwart the Silverswords' rally.
Hawai`i added another run in the bottom of the fourth and then in the fifth UH extended their lead to 6-0. Iseri again started the rally with a single to left. Lopez then drilled a double to left to put runners at second and third. Carlos drew a walk to load the bases. Morales then hit a sacrifice fly to right to score pinch runner Hiruko. Later in the inning, Lack drove a hit through the rightside of the infield to drive in Lopez to give UH a 6-0 lead.
In the sixth, the 'Bows tacked on three more runs on a bases clearing double to the left-center gap by
Rachael Turner.
Chaminade's Luana Moreno threw all six innings, allowing nine runs on 13 hits with two walks and a strikeout.
UH was originally supposed to play three games on Saturday, but the two early games went long with a few rain delays. UH-Hilo had an early flight back to the Big Island, so it was decided that the Vulcans would finish their day early in time to make their way to the airport and UH finished the day and the tournament with the originally scheduled game against Chaminade.
