HONOLULU--University of Hawai'i softball head coach Bob Coolen released the 2016 softball schedule which features teams from 10 different conferences with seven squads that advanced to the 2015 NCAA tournament. The Rainbow Wahine will play a total of 53 games this year—including 35 home games, 12 away conference games and six neutral games at the DeMarini Desert Classic hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas, Nev.  For the second straight season, the 'Bows will host five non-conference.

Hawai'i officially opens the 2015 season with Paradise Classic (Feb. 11-13)—featuring Ole Miss, UMKC (Missouri-Kansas City), and St. Mary's (CA). The 'Bows then will test their luck with their annual trip to Las Vegas, Nev. For the DeMarini Desert Classic (Feb. 18-21). In this year's tournament hosted by UNLV, UH will face BYU, Oregon State, Wichita State, Southern Utah, Grand Canyon and Utah.

Following their trip to Las Vegas, the Rainbow Wahine will return home to begin a 21-game home stand as they host four consecutive tournaments beginning with the Hawai'i Invitational (Feb. 26-28) in which Portland State and Utah Valley will be coming to Honolulu.

The Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament (March 4-6) will also be a three-team tournament with Coastal Carolina and Stanford. The Spring Fling Tournament (March 9-13) features three 2015 NCAA tournament teams—California, Baylor and two-time defending Summit League champions North Dakota State.

Hawai'i's non-conference schedule comes to an end with the Rainbow Wahine Classic (March 16-19). Texas and Iowa with both be making their way to the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium for UH's fifth and final tournament.

Hawai'I will host three conference series against CSUN (April 8-9), Cal State Fullerton (April 22-23) and Cal Poly (May 6-7). The 'Bows will play on the road for four Big West series—UC Davis (April 1-2), UC Riverside (April 15-16), UC Santa Barbara (April 29-30) and Long Beach State (May 13-14).

"Once again we will be playing a very competitive home schedule with the likes of California, Texas, Iowa, Baylor, Stanford, Utah, Oregon State and Ole Miss coming out of the Power-5 Conferences to participate in our hosted tournaments in February and March." says head coach Coolen. "We will also be hosting defending Big West Conference Champions, CSUN, who will be coming to Hawai'i during conference play in April. Our lone tournament on the mainland in Las Vegas during the month of February has us facing some NCAA Regional teams from last year in BYU and Utah."

The Rainbow Wahine return 12 letterwinners from a season ago when the 'Bows recorded a 32-22 overall record and a 13-8 mark in Big West action. UH finished the season strong, winning five of their last six games to finish in third place in the BWC race.
