DENVER - Six University of Hawai`i softball players received All-Western Athletic Conference honors tonight at the WAC Softball Banquet held in the Stan Sheriff Center. Seniors Kate Robinson and Kaulana Gould both earned first-team honors while Audrey Andrade, Tanisha Milca, Brandi Peiler, and Clare Warwick all made the second team. Gould is the first player in UH history to earn first team honors all four years.

Robinson, one of Hawai`i's most decorated players of all time, was a first-team selection for the second straight year in the utility/pitcher category. This season, in conference action, Robinson hit .346 and led the `Bows with five home runs and 17 runs batted in. She was second on the team with 11 runs scored and two doubles. As a pitcher, she was 6-3 with a 1.83 ERA. Four of her eight complete games were shutouts and she also had a combined shutout with fellow senior Jessica Morton.

Gould had the second best average (.367) on the team in conference action. The 2005 WAC Freshman of the Year has been consistent at the plate all season and put up solid numbers once again in WAC, scoring eight runs with three doubles and a team high on-base percentage of .415. The four year starter also has a 1.000 fielding percentage.

Junior first baseman Andrade made the All-WAC second-team for the second time in her career. As a freshman, she earned a second-team honor as a designated player. This season, she has played 13 games and is hitting .243 (9-for-37) with two doubles and one home run with six RBI.

It is the third all-WAC recognition for junior rightfielder Milca, all as a second teamer. This year, the three-year starting rightfielder, has started all 17 games and is hitting .333 in conference with eight runs scored with two doubles and a home run and five RBI.

Peiler, a senior leftfielder, is a two-time all-WAC second team player who came on strong during WAC, finishing the season tied at the top of the team with a .385 average. Peiler started all 17 games and was also tied for the team lead with three doubles.

Patrolling the hot corner the last three seasons has been Warwick. This is her second all-WAC honor after receiving first team recognition last season. She is tied with Peiler with a team-high .385 average and has scored 13 runs with three doubles and three home runs.

The Rainbow Wahine host and begin play tomorrow in the WAC Tournament. The winner receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Hawai`i, the No. 3 seed, opens with No. 4 seed, Louisiana Tech at 7:00 pm at the Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
