Softball Places Three On WAC All-Tournament Team

NULL

HONOLULU - Three University of Hawai`i softball players, Kate Robinson, Audrey Andrade and Richie-Anne Titcomb earned all-tournament team honors today at the conclusion of the Western Athletic Conference tournament in Honolulu.

Robinson was selected in the utility/pitcher category. She led UH in the tournament hitting .462 (6-for-13) with three runs scored, three RBI and two walks (including one intentional walk). She had an amazing .923 slugging percentage to go with her .533 on-base percentage--both were also team-highs. Robinson hit two home runs this weekend, the second of which was her 19th of the year that tied her UH single-season record she set last year. This is the second time Robinson has earned WAC all-tournament honors. In 2006, she earned a spot as a designated player in the tournament that was played at Fresno State.

Andrade hit .400 for the tournament going 4-for-10 at the plate with two runs scored and three RBI. Andrade, who picked up second team all-WAC honors earlier in the week, went 3-for-3 in the San Jose State elimination game and knocked in a career game-high three runs. Andrade was honored in the utility/non-pitcher category after playing both first base and designated player.

Titcomb ranked the highest amongst starting second basemen with a .231 batting average with one run scored, one RBI, and a double. She also made some plays highlight reel defensive plays during the tourney.

Hawai`i placed third in the tournament that ended today. The fourth-seeded Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters defeated top-seeded Nevada, 2-1 on a solo home run hit by the starting pitcher and tournament MVP Krissi Oliver late in the game. Tech will receive the conferences automatic bid for the NCAA tournament, while the Rainbow Wahine will now await their fate until tomorrow's NCAA selection show that airs tomorrow at 4:00 pm (HST).
