AZUSA, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i women's track and field team competed in both the Azusa Pacific Invitational and Mt. SAC Relays Friday. The Rainbow Wahine are in the midst of a five-day, five meet road trip through California.
At the APU Invite, senior Meghan Weaver placed second in the shot put top flight with an NCAA Regional qualifying heave of 49-4.5 (15.05m). Teammate Careena Onosai placed second in the flight 2 with a seasonal best 41-7.25 (12.68m).
Onosai also took top honors in the flight 3 of the discus after a throw of 138-10 (42.31m). Brittani Daniels captured the flight 2 discus with a mark of 149-8 (45.63m).
At nearby Mt. SAC, a pair of pole vaulters made regional standard. For the second time in as many weeks, senior Patricia Gauthier cleared four meters (13-1.5). Jessica Custance placed fifth after jumping 12-7.5 (3.85m).
On Saturday, the Rainbow Wahine will send athletes to both the Beach Invitational and second day of the Mt. SAC Relays.
