Nicole Awaa posted two personal best marks at the UC San Diego Triton Track & Field Invitational, Saturday, at Triton Stadium. Awaa and sophomore
Meghan Weaver competed in both the discus and shot put events.
Awaa, a Brea, Calif. native, eclipsed her previous best in the discus by nine feet, throwing 151-10 to place 19th overall. In the shot put, she took 18th with a throw of 43-3.
On Friday, Weaver became the first Rainbow Wahine in school history to make NCAA Regional standard in three field events during the same season after qualifying in the hammer. On Saturday, Weaver threw 144-3 in the discus for 22nd place and 46-0 in the shot put for 14th place.
Awaa, Weaver and the rest of the UH women's track and field team will participate at the Sacramento Invitational next weekend, their final mainland competition before the Western Athletic Conference Championship. Hawai`i is hosting the WAC Championships, May 10-13, at Cooke Field.
