Karratti's PR Leads UH At Pomona-Pitzer Invitational

CLAREMONT, Calif. - While some members of the Hawai`i women's track and field team were competing at the Mt. SAC Relays in nearby Walnut, Calif., most of the squad participated at the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational at Strehle Track in poor weather conditions.

Junior Ku'ulei Karratti managed to overcome the rain and cold with a new personal best in the hammer throw. The Ka`u, Hawai`i native, heaved 166-61/2, clearing her previous high by five feet.

Other Rainbow Wahine in action was freshman Samantha Weaver, who jumped 10-6 in the pole vault to finish in a tie for sixth. Senior Nicole Wright placed 10th in the 100m hurdles, clocking in at 15.56 seconds.

The Rainbow Wahine will next compete in UC San Diego's Triton Invitational, April 22-23.
