UH Prepares For Upcoming Road Trip With Sunset Meet #7

HONOLULU - With a six-day, three-meet road trip looming, the Hawai`i women's track and field team hosted the seventh of nine Sunset meets, Saturday, at Cooke Field. The Rainbow Wahine field athletes had top showings in their respective events.

Freshman Emily Sheppard tied a personal best in the high jump with a leap of 5-8.75. In the pole vault, junior Tiara Krismunando also tied a PB, jumping 11-5.75, while freshman Jessica Trujillo bested her previous high with a leap of 11-7.

Sophomore Annett Wichmann threw a personal-best 134-7.25 in the javelin while sophomore Mallory Gilbert set a new PB with a throw of 99-7.25.

In the hammer, Ava Marie Cavaco set a new personal best throwing 141-3.25. Sophomore Meghan Weaver won the event with a heave of 159-3.75.

Freshman Nicole Awaa threw a personal-best 42-9.25 in the shot put to take top honors over Weaver, who threw 41-8.75.

The Rainbow Wahine depart for northern California, where they will compete in the California Multi-Events, March 29-30, Stanford Invitational, March 31-April 1, and the Brutus Hamilton Invitational, April 1-2.
