NORTHRIDGE, Calif. - The Hawai`i women's track and field team put together solid performances at the Northridge Relays, Saturday, at the Matador Track and Field Complex. The meet included athletes from top West Coast programs such as UCLA, USC, Sacramento State, and host Cal State Northridge.

"We're off to a good start, this being our first competition of the season," head coach Carmyn James said. "I feel quite pleased where we're at and look forward to our next mainland meet."

Sophomore Emily Sheppard placed second in the high jump, leaping 5-7, while teammate Mallory Gilbert finished fourth at 5-3.

Newcomer Michel Wilson finished third in the 3000m Steeplechase, crossing the finish line in 12:00.22, a new season best mark. Junior Patricia Gauthier took third in the pole vault with a leap of 11-11.75.

Setting new personal best marks in their event were freshman Nicole Awaa in the shot put (42-5.5) and junior Sharlene Carillo in the 800m (2:20.27). Freshman Thalia Amanakis ran a season-best 1:03.92 in the 400m Hurdles.
