'Bows Begin Six-Game Homestand With UNLV On "White-Out" Tuesday

HONOLULU - The Hawai'i men's basketball team returns to the Stan Sheriff Center after completing an 11-day, four-game road trip through Alaska and northern California. The Rainbow Warriors host UNLV, Tuesday, Dec. 5 in the second part of an in-season home-and-home series with the Runnin' Rebels. Tip-off is 7:05 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.

The game has been designated as a "White-Out" and all fans are encouraged to wear white shirts.

UH went 2-2 during its recent road trip which took the 'Bows to the Great Alaska Shootout and a non-conference game against Santa Clara. The 'Bows finished third in the Shootout, with wins over Hofstra and Pacific. Last Wednesday, UH dropped a 68-59 decision to Santa Clara.

The Runnin' Rebels are coming off a 93-53 rout over Northern Arizona in a game played in St. George, Utah. Five Rebels scored in double figures led by Wink Adams' 16.

UH and UNLV opened the 2006-07 season in Las Vegas, with the Runnin' Rebels prevailing 73-59. This game begins a six-game homestand for the 'Bows through the month of December.

Game Notes
The 'Bows are 7-1 in "White-Out" games since 2002...UH is 4-0 when leading at the half and 0-3 when trailing at intermission...UH is 37-5 in non-conference games at the Stan Sheriff Center since the start of the 2001-02 season.

UH-UNLV Series History: The teams have played 28 times with the Runnin' Rebels holding an 19-9 advantage. In games played in Honolulu, the series is tied at 7-7. UH has won four of the last five games played in Honolulu, including last season's 78-72 victory.

Scouting UNLV: The Runnin' Rebels have gone 4-2 since a season-opening 73-59 victory over Hawai'i. UNLV routed Northern Arizona, 93-53, on Saturday in a game played at Dixie State College in St. George, Utah due to a conflict with the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Wink Adams led a balanced attack with 16 points as four other Rebels scored in double figures. Leading scorer Wendell White added 13 points and seven rebounds. The Rebels shot 56 percent for the game and scored 80 points or more for the fifth time this season. For the year, UNLV is averaging 82.6 points per contest. Lon Kruger is in his third year at UNLV and boasts a 39-29 record. He has a 20-year career mark of 357-262 with Illinois, Florida, Kansas State, and Pan American.

UH hosts Northwestern State in a non-conference game on Saturday, Dec. 16. Tip-off is 5:35 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
