The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine soccer team begins defense of its Western Athletic Conference title with a pair of road matches in Idaho. UH looks to end a three-match losing streak when it faces Idaho on Oct. 6, before taking on Boise State on Oct. 8.

News & Notes: UH enters its 11th season in the Western Athletic Conference and is 35-30-3 all-time in the regular season...the Rainbow Wahine are 13-20 all-time in WAC road matches...UH is 5-4-1 all-time in WAC openers and 3-7 in its first WAC road match of the year...UH finished its non-conference schedule with a pair of road losses to San Diego (4-2) and Loyola Marymount (2-0)...the Rainbow Wahine, who already played San Francisco to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 17 dropped to 7-22-4 against the West Coast Conference with its pair of losses...after allowing just three goals in its first nine matches, UH has surrendered nine in its last four matches...the Rainbow Wahine still have a solid 0.87 goals against average.
Streaks & Milestones: Hawai`i has lost three straight matches...the last time UH lost three consecutive matches within one season was 2002...UH has won its last five WAC openers and has not dropped a conference opener since 1999 (5-0-1)...Taryn Fukuroku became just the eighth Rainbow Wahine to score in three straight matches when she put away goals versus Detroit (Sept. 21), Cal State Northridge (Sept. 25) and San Diego (Oct. 1)...Fukuroku's multi-goal performance at San Diego made her the 14th player to accomplish the feat, joining Kelli-Anne Chang who scored two goals earlier this year versus Winthrop (Sept. 3)...senior Kelly McCloskey missed her first match in three years, a string of 52 straight matches, when she did not suit up against Loyola Marymount.
About the Vandals: Idaho is winless at 0-12 this season ...the Vandals came close to nabbing its first win in its last match at Eastern Washington...Idaho led for more than 50 minutes of the match, before falling 2-1, on a goal scored with nine seconds left...the Vandals have been outscored, 43-3, this season and have a 3.58 goals against average...the Vandals have played just three of its first 12 matches at home where they are 0-3.
About the Broncos: Boise State completed its non-league schedule at 5-4-1...BSU played a pair of double-overtime matches this past week, defeating Sacramento State, 4-3, on the road and tying TCU, 1-1, at home...the Broncos are 3-1-1 at home so far this year...senior Brennan Lau leads the Broncos in points with seven on two goals and three assists... Boise State plays San Jose State on the road Friday to open WAC play, before facing UH on Sunday.
