HONOLULU - University of Hawai`i associate head coach Charlie Wade has taken the head coaching job at the University of Pacific, leaving the Rainbow Wahine after 11 years on staff.

Wade served as UH's primary recruiter, while breaking down film, producing scouting reports and providing technical training during practices. He also served as the head coach for three of the Rainbow Wahine's victories in 2004, at San Jose State (10/27), Boise State (10/29) and Utah State (11/23), while head coach Dave Shoji was dealing with family matters.

"I'm very happy for Charlie and (his wife) Tani," Shoji said. "This is an opportunity for him to be a leader of a great program. That's what he has worked towards over the past 11 years. I wish his all the luck in the world."

During his 11 years with the Rainbow Wahine, Wade helped the volleyball team to 11 consecutive conference titles, advancing to 10 NCAA Regionals, four final fours and one NCAA championship match. The program also produced eight All-Americans, including two AVCA Players of the Year.
