RENO, Nev. - The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team concluded the Wolf Pack Classic with a 16th place finish, shooting a total of 894 at Genoa Lake Golf Course. Senior
Jarett Hamamoto finished the tournament with a seven-under-par 209, tying him for fourth, individually.
Hamamoto carded scores of 69, 70 and 70 to lead the Warriors. Ryan Perez came back from a 79 in the first round to finish tied for 75th with a 76 and 73 in the second and third round, respectively. Pierre-Henri Soero (71-81-77, 229, t-80), Cody Wolfenbarger (76-83-74, 233, t-89) and Travis Toyama (81-84-72, 237, 99) rounded out the UH team.
Tournament host Nevada came back to win the classic, carding a 12-under-par 852, defeating New Mexico State by two strokes. Arkansas finished third at -8, followed by Utah (-5) and Denver (-3). Arkansas' Matt Bortis won the individual title, firing a 63 in the final round to finish at 206 (-10) for the tournament.
The team will next play at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational, hosted by California, at the Meadow Club in Fairfax, Calif., on Oct. 10 and 11.
