Former Warrior Sean Scott Highlights AVP Stop In Honolulu

NULL

HONOLULU - Former University of Hawai`i Warrior volleyball player Sean Scott makes his return trip to the islands for the AVP "Best of the Beach" tournament October 1st and 2nd presented by Paul Mitchell.

Scott (1992-95) was a household name on the Stan Sheriff Center court in the 1990s. Scott, who missed the 2004 Olympics by one spot in the qualifying process, consistently placed in the top five throughout the 2004 season alongside partner Todd Rogers.

The Kailua native made his arrival as one of the tour's top players after winning his first tournament title in 2004 at Tempe Open.

Following the 2004 regular season, he garnered the esteemed award of "Best of the Beach" in the post season event in Honolulu.

In 2005, Scott and partner Rogers continued their success. They were victorious in both Boulder, Colo., and Chicago, Ill., the last two regular season stops on the AVP Tour. Add in two second place finishes and a third and Scott had another terrific year on the AVP Tour. Scott led the tour in kill percentage and finished sixth in blocks.

Joining Scott in Hawai`i are two of his former classmates and teammates from Punahou School, Stein Metzger and Mike Lambert.

The AVP tour put up the nets, set down the lines, and took out the bleachers for 13 stops making Hawaii the 14th stop and final time for this year's season ender at the Best of the Beach.

The top eight men's and women's teams will compete for $200,000 in cash prizes with Television Coverage on OLN and Fox Sports. The AVP Best of the Beach takes place October 1 and 2 at Queens Beach in Waikiki.

General admission to the event is $15 and only $5 with a valid Student ID. Buy your tickets in advance at avp.com or purchase at the gate. The invites to this tournament were based off a Team's six best finishes determined by points earned during the 2005 AVP season.
