LOMPOC, Calif.- After a tough round three, the University of Hawai'i men's golf team fell five spots to finish the Bite/Pacific Coast Intercollegiate in a three way tie for eighth place with UC Riverside and UC Irvine. The Warriors shot an 18-over-par 306 in the final round on the La Purisima golf course and finished the UC Santa Barbara-hosted tournament with a 54-hole total of 900.
Junior golfer Jarett Hamamoto led the Warriors through all three rounds and finished tied for 14th after shooting a two-over 74 on Tuesday. Hamamoto finished with a three round total of 222. Also competing for the Warriors were senior Kellen-Floyd Asao (225, 28), freshman Travis Toyama (227, T32), sophomore Pierre-Henri Soero (228, T42) and freshman Ryan Perez (240, 103).
UC Davis expanded their four stroke lead by firing a two-over 290 in the final round and finished eight strokes ahead of second place Washington State to win the team championship. Along with taking home the top team honors, the Aggie's Louie Bishop, who shot a three-under 69 in round three and finished with a 54-hole total of 217, finished atop the leader board to claim the individual title. The UH men's golf team will next be in action when they travel to Arizona to compete in the ASU/Thunderbird Invitational, one of the top tournaments in the west, on April 8-9.
