DES MOINES, Iowa - Freshman
Bianca DeBartolo finished the two-day Drake Relays heptathlon with a score of 4,354 points to finish in 19th place, Thursday, at Drake Stadium. DeBartolo moved up one spot after Wednesday's events put her in 20th.
The Bondi, New South Wales native, threw the fourth farthest mark in the javelin (34.79m). She also completed the long jump (5.23m) and 800m run (2:47.64). UT-San Antonio's Ryanne Dupree won the event with total of 5,331 points. Five other athletes finished the event with NCAA Regional provincial scores.
The Drake Relays continues on Friday and Saturday. Other UH athletes expected to compete are sophomore Kelly Young (800m), sophomore Dana Buchanan (1500m), junior Tasha Monroe (relays), sophomore Jessica Rohr (relays), sophomore Sheena Thain (relays), and sophomore Heather Scott (relays).
In addition, the Rainbow Wahine will send another squad to the Steve Scott Invitational, April 30. The event is hosted by UC Irvine at Anteater Stadium.
