That shot ignited a Portland State rally in which the next two hitters, Randi Middagh and Whitney Olsen both reached safely on infield hits. Kimi Daniel pushed them to second on a ground ball to the right side of the infield. But with the momentum on the side of the Vikings, and runners at second and third, Laura Segall hit a sharp ground ball to third - the lead runner, Middagh broke for home and was thrown out easily at the plate.
