HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i women's water polo team moved up one slot into fourth place in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association's Top 20 released today.
The Rainbow Wahine were in fifth place in last week's poll, but the women gained ground after completing a three-game sweep at home of No. 7 California, Pacific, and No. 3 Long Beach State, Hawai`i leap-frogged over LBSU into fourth place this week.
UCLA maintains its grip on No. 1 followed by USC and Stanford. Long Beach State falls to No. 5.
It is the highest ranking under third-year head coach Michel Roy, and the best ranking in the program in more than five years.
Hawai`i ends its six-game home stand tonight as they battle Mountain Pacific Sports Federation rival San Diego State at 4:30 p.m. at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
