Results

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i women's outdoor track and field squad finished the second Sunset Series Meet at Cooke Field on the UH campus tonight as two records were set by UH athletes.

Despite blistering heat, the Rainbow Wahine were able to get in one more competitive week of action before the Western Athletic Conference finals in Houston, which are only two weeks away.

Sophomores Novelle Murray and Tiara Krismunando both had standout days at Cooke Field. Murray had a stellar day as she set the UH record in the hammer throw. Murray's toss of 46.10 meters surpassed her previous UH record by nearly 1.5 meters. Krismunando set the UH pole vaulting record as she flew over 3.35 meters, .05 meters past the record.

Junior Tasha Monroe, from Long Beach, Calif., set a personal best in the high jump with a mark of 1.60 meters.

Besides UH athletes, the all-comers meet attracted local athletes from all over Oahu. William Ngetich, formally a runner at Hawai`i Pacific University, set a Cooke Field record in the 1,500 meter event. Ngetich finished eight seconds under the previous record with a mark of 4:20.14.

Next up for the UH outdoor track and field squad is the Hawai'i Heptathlon Invitational at Cooke Field May 4-5.
