Buchanan Breaks UH 1500m Record on Final Day of Drake Relays

DES MOINES, Iowa - A split University of Hawai`i women's track team completed the final day of competition in the 95th running of the Drake Relays at Drake Stadium breaking yet two more school records.

UH competed in only three events today -- the long jump, 1500m run, and the 4x800m relay.

Dana Buchanan broke the school record in the 1500m run with an NCAA Regional qualifying run of four minutes and 28.83 seconds. She finished fourth overall and her time in the event is second best in the Western Athletic Conference. The old UH mark was set by Hannah Bremler last year.

The 4x800m relay team of Kelly Young, Buchanan, Ashley Monfort, and Robin McRobbie placed eighth overall with a time of nine minutes and 13.14 seconds and broke the UH record in the event by three seconds..

Tasha Monroe was the only participant in the long jump as she placed ninth overall with a leap of 5.41m (17-09).
