UH's Phillips, Page Move Up One Slot on Final Day of California Heptathlon

AZUSA, Calif. - The University of Hawai`i heptathletes Lana Phillips and Amanda Page each moved up one spot on the final day of the 2004 California Invitational Heptathlon hosted by Azusa Pacific University.

Phillips, who began the day in 16th place overall with a first-day total of 2,343 points, moved up one position to finish in 15th tabulating an even 4,000 points. Her point total was just four shy of her all-time best ranking.

Teammate Page also leap-frogged over one person finishing 17th overall with 3,777 points. Page posted a one-day total of 2,288 going into today's competition. She surpassed a personal-best by 49 points.

In the California Invitational Heptathlon, German native and Virginia Tech sophomore Saskia Treisscheijn won with a 7-event with a total score of 5,292 points, the second best tally ever by a Hokie. Meanwhile, second-place finisher Mireya Beltran, formerly of meet-host Azusa Pacific, set the Mexican national record with 5,173 points.

UH continues the next three days in California participating in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational (April 16), Mt. San Antonio College Relays (April 16-18), and the Long Beach State Invitational (April 17).
