Sunrise Meet #4 Highlights

HONOLULU - The University of Hawai'i hosted its fourth Sunrise Meet on Saturday where two new Cooke Field records were established.

Distance runner Dana Buchanan broke the women's mile record (5:00.19) established a year ago by Hannah Bremler.

Novelle Murray set the women's hammer mark with a throw of 30.71 meters. It was the first time the women's event has ever been contested at Cooke Field.

Numerous athletes broke into the UH All-Time Top Performance List. Beside Buchanan and Murray mentioned above, Tasha Monroe jumped into sixth all-time in the 200m dash (25.04) as well as Candace Rosenthal first all-time in the 80m (12.21) hurdles.

Christine Popp had a soid showing on Saturday breaking into the Top 5 in both the 80m (12.60) and 300m hurdles (46.25).

The trio of Robin McRobbie (5:25.94), Monica Su (5:32.98), and Hannah Eberhard (5:39.68) had solid showings in the 1500m Steeplechase, now finding themselves ranke Nos. 2-4 on the UH all-time list in the event.

So far in 2004, there have been 67 new individual top performances surpased.
