No. 2 Hawai`i Wins WAC Regular Season Title; Take Top Seed to WAC Tournament

HONOLULU - The No. 2 University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team (23-0, 13-0 WAC) survived a scare from Nevada on senior night to preserve their sixth-straight undefeated WAC regular season.

UH will now try to secure their fifth-straight WAC tournament title as they will play SMU on Friday, Nov. 19, at noon (10 a.m. HST) in the quarterfinals. If they advance, Hawai`i will play in the semifinal match at 5 p.m. (3 p.m. HST) and the championship match at 3 p.m. (1 p.m. HST)

The 2004 All-WAC teams were also announced on Tuesday, Nov. 16, with UH sweeping the individual honors of Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Freshman of the Year.

Television Coverage
Oceanic Ch. 16 will broadcast the UH WAC Tournament quarterfinal match on Nov. 19 and the Nov. 20 semifinal match, if the Rainbow Wahine advance.
Russell Shimaoka (play-by-play) and Dave Vinton (color commentary) will do the broadcast back to the islands.

The WAC Championship match will be broadcasted nationwide on CSTV (Oceanic Digital Ch. 247) with Carter Blackburn (play-by-play) and Mike Dodd (color commentary) doing the broadcast. OC 16 will also carry the CSTV telecast live for the WAC Championship match.

Radio Coverage
KKEA Sports and Talk Radio (1420 AM) will broadcast all UH matches live with Scott Robbs handling the play-by-play. Matches can also be heard over the Internet on www.kkea1420am.com.

Travel Itinerary
The team will leave on Thursday, Nov. 18, from Honolulu at 8:00 a.m. on United #58 to San Francisco, arriving at 2:50 p.m. The team will then leave San Francisco at 5:00 p.m. on United #6265 to Reno, NV, arriving at 6:05 p.m. While in Reno, the team will stay at the Silver Legacy, (775) 325-7401.

After the tournament, on Monday, Nov. 22, UH will fly out of Reno, NV, at 10:11 a.m. on United #6437 to San Francisco, arriving at 11:09 a.m. After a short layover in San Francisco, they'll head out at 12:03 p.m. on United #548 to Salt Lake City, arriving at 2:50 p.m. While in Logan, UT, the team will stay at the Best Western Baugh, (435) 752-5220. While in Salt Lake City, the team will stay at the Hampton Inn, (801) 886-0703.

At the end of the road trip, UH will return home on Thursday, Nov. 25, Thanksgiving Day, leaving Salt Lake City at 11:15 a.m. on United #6567 to Los Angeles, arriving at 12:05 p.m. After the layover in Los Angeles, the team will leave at 2:10 p.m. on United #57 to Honolulu, finally arriving at 6:00 p.m.
