ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -The University of Hawai`i Warrior golf team wrapped up their second competition of the week with a 16th place finish out of the 19 team field at the 2004 William H. Tucker Invitational. The Warriors shot 302 on the final day to finish with a three-round total of 903 on the University of New Mexico Championship Golf Course.
The top Warrior finisher was sophomore Pierre-Henri Soero, who ended the day tied for 62nd with a 10-over-par, three-round total of 226. Junior transfer Jarett Hamamoto finished behind Soero with an 11-over 227, which landed him in a tie for 64th. Other Warrior golfers were Kellen-Floyd Asao (229, +13), freshman Ryan Perez (237, +21) and sophomore Cody Wolfenbarger (DQ), who suffered a first round disqualification from individual play, but was allowed to have his second and third round scores counted toward the overall team total.
The University of Arizona golfers were able to hold-off a late charge by New Mexico and UNLV to be crowned team champions with a nine-under-par 855. UNLV's Ryan Moore fired an incredible seven-under 65 in the final round to sneak ahead of New Mexico's Spencer Levin and claim the individual title. Moore had a three-round total of 205, 11 strokes under par. The Warriors will travel next to Reno, Nevada to compete in the Wolf Pack Invitational on Oct. 18 and 19.
