Chris George pitched 2.0 hitless innings with three strikeouts for the save.
Richard Olsen got the loss for the 'Bows.
Offensively, the 'Bows were held to just three hits by Robbie Wilder, Gregory Kish and Andrew Sansaver. Olsen pitched well, throwing just 66 pitches in 7.0 inning of work, giving up just two runs on six hits with one strikeout. Stephen Bryant pitched 2.0 innings of relief, giving up just one run and one hit while recording one strikeout.
The Rainbows threatened in the first inning as Wilder singled in the teams' first at bat. Kish then went on to reach on a fielder's choice, move to second on an error and steal third base before he was tagged out at the plate on a Sansaver fielder's choice.
Hawai`i looked like they were primed to get on the board in the third inning as they loaded the bases with no outs. But former UH pitcher Randy Weinstein stepped up and recorded three straight outs to end the inning with the score still at 0-0.
The alumni then stepped up in the fourth inning as Kenny Harrison homered over the right field wall to put them up 1-0. Harrison then doubled in the seventh before John Matias drove him in to put the alumni up 2-0.
Harrison then put a cap on his day in the ninth, driving another home run over the right field fence to hand the alumni team the 3-0 win.
The Rainbows will officially open their season this Friday, Jan. 30, at 6:35 p.m. against the No. 5 Texas Longhorns. The series will also include a 6:35 p.m. game on Saturday and a 4:35 p.m. game on Sunday.
