BRIGHTON, Colo.— The University of Hawaii Rainbow men’s golf team stand in ninth place after the first two rounds of the Ron Moore Classic hosted by the University of Denver. Hawaii shot a first round 299 and hit 295 in the second round to total 594 (+18) through the first 36 holes.
Leading the way for the Warriors is junior Manarii Gauthier who shot a 2-over par 146 in the first two rounds and stands in a tie for 19th on the individual leaderboard. Senior Matt Kodama is one stroke behind in tie for 23rd after totaling 147. Par for the 7067-yard Riverdale Dunes Golf Course is 72.
Also participating for the Warriors are freshman Cody Wolfenbarger (150, T37 place), freshman Geoffrey Stevens (152, T45 place) and junior Kellen-Floyd Asao (159, T63).
Colorado State leads the 12-team field with a 12-under 564, 10 strokes ahead of second place UTEP. Nolan Martin of Colorado State is the individual leader with a nine-under 135 and has a two stroke edge over UTEP’s Chris Baryla.
The Ron Moore Classic concludes tomorrow with the final 18 holes of play beginning at 8:30 a.m.
