Former 'Bow English Signs with Pacers

NULL

INDIANAPOLIS - Former University of Hawai'i men's basketball player Carl English signed with the Indiana Pacers, Friday. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

English, the seventh leading scorer in school history, went undrafted in this year's NBA Draft. The Newfoundland, Canada native applied for early entry in the draft after playing three years for the Rainbow Warriors.

English finished his career holding the school single season record for 3-pointers (89) and ranks second to current Denver Nugget Predrag Savovic for career 3-pointers (162). Last season, English averaged 19.6 points per game in leading the 'Bows to the National Invitation Tournament, the team's third straight appearance in the postseason.

For his efforts, English was named first team All-WAC, second team NABC All-District 13, and become just the second player in school history to earn Verizon Academic All-America honors.

English is currently the fourth former UH player in the NBA. Anthony Carter (1996-98) is on the Miami Heat roster, Savovic (1999-2002) begins his second season with Denver, and Troy Ostler (2000-01) is a member of the New York Knicks summer league team.
