WAC Championships - Day 3 of WAC Outdoor T&F Championships
EL PASO, TEXAS - The University of Hawai'i is in ninth place going into the final day of the 2003 Western Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Nevada's women lead following the first three days of competition.
Robin McRobbie was the only Rainbow Wahine that picked up points today as she finished seventh overall in the 3000-meter Steeplechase (11:39.64).
UH had participants in only two other finals today. In the shot put, Diosa Hussey placed ninth with her best throw of 12.96m. In the javelin, Arwen Militante finished seventh overall with a toss of 35.66m.
UH also had athletes performing in other events that didn't make it to the finals. In the 100m dash, Nicole Wright finished 14th (13.43). Wright also placed 20th in the 200m dash (28.60). Hanna BremlerJordana Whittington placed 12th and 13th in the 800m run with times of 2:18.16 and 2:21.49, respectively. The only other event that had UH runners in it was the 400m hurdles with Carolyn Berger and Kira Lee coming in 13th (1:06.47) and 14th (1:10.92), respectively.
UH's Olivia Smoody has been among the WAC leaders in the high jump. Victoria Chang is ranked second in the league in the 5000m run. And, discus thrower Novelle Murray has a NCAA regional qualifying mark.
The final day gets underway with the field events and the women's hammer throw at 9:30 a.m. HST, while the running events start at 1 p.m. HST.
