Sunset Series Meet #8 Results

HONOLULU - An almost ideal evening was the backdrop for the Sunset Series Meet #8 Wednesday at twilight at the Cooke Field Track on the campus of the University of Hawai'i in Manoa.

The 200-meter dash got some attention early in the meet as a couple of UH runners set personal bests.

Lana Phillips topped the 2003 outdoor performance list with a time of 27.37 seconds bettering her time by almost 7/10 of a second. Christine Bartlett posted a time of 28.10 seconds, some .22 seconds lower than her former best time in the event.

In the 1500m run, both Victoria Chang and Jordana Whittington came in with their best efforts in the event this spring. Chang's time was 4:47.76 and Whittington's crossed the finish line at 4:52.25.

Robin McRobbie came in third in the 3000m run (10:24.78). Teammates Sarah Wood and Shayne Enright placed seventh and eighth, respectively, with their personal bests in the event.

The hurdles saw even more improvements. Lana Phillips (12.64) and Nicole Wright (12.67) posted their best moments of the spring in 80m hurdles.

In the 100m hurdles (30"), Wright (15.57) and Phillips (15.65) again came away with their strongest performances this spring.

The UH squad heads to Irvine, Calif., to participate in the UCI Steve Scott Invitational this Saturday, May 3.
