DENVER - University of Hawai`i pitcher
Melissa Coogan earned her third Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week honor announced by the league.
Coogan, from West Hills, Calif., (El Camino Real H.S.), won the first three games of the San Jose State series, pitching two shutouts in the process. She pitched three complete games and did not allow an earned run in 21 innings. She posted 15 strikeouts, while walking five.
The sophomore limited the Spartans to a .141 batting average. Coogan leads the WAC in wins with a 26-9 record. In WAC games, Coogan has a stellar 11-1 record.
For Coogan, it was her third WAC weekly award and second time she has won it in as many weeks.
