UCSD Triton Invitational Results - Day 2
SAN DIEGO - Hawai`i's
Hanna Bremler broke the school record in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:29.98 at the UC San Diego Invitational last night. It was one of two events that she ran in, including posting a first-place finish in the 3000-meter run. Her time in the 1500m was an automatic qualifier into the event at the upcoming NCAA West Regional in Palo Alto, Calif., in May.
Bremler moves into fifth place in the 1500m event in the Western Athletic Conference.
She becomes the fourth UH athlete to qualify for the NCAA West Regional. The other three already making the marks are Victoria Chang (5000m), Novelle Murray (discus), and Olivia Smoody (high jump).
The second day of competition also produced 12 personal bests by UH athletes, including Bremler's two feats.
Other notable efforts that were turned in by Rainbow Wahine were Jordana Whittington (800m, 2:17.14), Teryn Bentley (1500m, 5:09.24; 3000m, 11:08.27)), Robin McRobbie (3000m, 10:43.43), Shayne Enright (3000m, 11:41.96), Lana Phillips (400m hurdles, 1:11.20), Nicole Wright (long jump, 4.83m), Kristin Ray (shot put, 11.34m), Alexis Fredrick (discus, 37.41m), and the 4x400m Relay Team (4:11.66).
Added along with McRobbie's new UH record in the 3000m Steeplechase on the first day, and UH broke two records and set 13 personal bests.
UH returns home to host the Sunset Series Meet #8 on Wednesday, April 30, at Cooke Field.
