Day 3 Results
Hawaii Kai -The final day of the Rainbow Invitational Track and Field meet wrapped up today at Kaiser High School. Today's events included the discus, hammer and javelin throws.
The University of Hawai`i women's team ended the meet with a strong showing in the throw events. In the javelin event, Rainbow Wahine Arwen Militante beat out Calgary's Milissa VanHal (25.47m) and Emily Joyce (17.12m) with a 32.95m throw. On the men's side, Ryan Thomas of the Calgary squad had the top throw of 47.35m.
The Rainbow Wahine were the only women participants in the discus event. Freshman Novelle Murray beat out teammate Alexis Fredrick (37.41m) and Diosa Hussey (31.43m) with a 47.05m throw. HMTC's Jack Karbens was the sole participant in the men's competition; he had a 37.04m throw.
In the hammer event, Shellen Thomas of Calgary came in first with a 42.38m throw. Hawai`i's Alexis Fredrick had a 29.14m throw for the day. Jack Karbens of HMTC clinched first place for the men with a 32.74m throw.
The next event for the University of Hawai`i women's track and field team is the 3-day Rainbow Relays being held next weekend at Cooke Field.
